silkscreen

This ancient stencil-based medium lacks the plasticity of painting, which renders it a more common instrument of refinement, purification, and reproduction. Unlike the improvisational choreography inherent in painting, most creative decisions in making a silkscreen print take place before any of the colors touch the paper. The completed silkscreen is complex – layers on top of layers, each one carefully built upon the preceding layer.
